African Society for Addiction Research (ASAR)
                         

ASAR is a pan African addiction society, registered by the registrar of societies, for addiction researchers, addiction advocates, addiction communicators, and other addiction. ASAR is open for membership from Africa and elsewhere working on addiction.

Addiction research will include social, cultural, medical, biological, genetical educational as well as legislation with the support of the government and other stalk holders.

ASAR has mission to bring researched understanding of addiction in Africa using its rich human recourses.

ADDICTION?

What is addiction? Addiction is defined by Encarta 2007 as habitual repetition of excessive behaviour that person is unable or unwilling to stop,despite its harmful consequences. People can be physically addicted to alcohol and drugs.People may also ber psychologically addicted to drugs,gambling,or other behaviours,meaning they feel overwhelmingly deprived if they attempted to stop.
